Open day for village history buffs

Thursday 16th October 2008, 9:20AM BST.

History buffs in Clent will stage a popular event celebrating the village’s long history and the people who have lived there over the years.

Photographs from the past century will be on display throughout the event being held by members of Clent History Society.

The archive open day will be held at the parish hall, in Church Avenue, on November 2 from 11am to 4pm. Members have set up a range of new exhibits for this year’s event featuring photographs only recently donated by people in the community to create a snapshot of village life.

Among the new displays will be a before-and-after section where visitors can compare parts of the village today with how they looked decades ago.

Part of the event will pay tribute to men from the town who served in both World Wars, which is a traditional feature of the archive day.
