A lifelong charity fundraiser from Wolverhampton who helped provide guide dogs for the blind despite being unable to see herself has died aged 90.

Dorothy Hadley received the MBE for services to blind people in 1987 and was presented with a locket by Guide Dogs for the Blind in April in honour of more than 40 years of raising funds.

She died her home in Pine Court, Cottage Close, Wednesfield, on Tuesday.

Born partially sighted in 1918, Miss Hadley became completely blind in 1960. Her friend Pam Howson, aged 67, of Ettingshall Park, said the pensioner never married or had children because she feared passing on her condition to future generations.

The funeral will be at Bushbury Crematorium on October 22 at 2.30pm. She had asked that anyone considering sending flowers should instead make a donation to Guide Dogs for the Blind.
