Branch is closed in crunch

Tuesday 14th October 2008, 11:30AM BST.

One of the oldest estate agents in the region has closed its Kidderminster branch – the fourth property agents in the town to shut in recent months.

Nock Deighton, which opened in Bridgnorth, Shropshire, in the 1800s is one of the county’s oldest firms.

It opened a branch in Kidderminster in Worcester Street in January 2007 riding on the back of the property boom. However, the firm has now decided the market in the Kidderminster area has dwindled and closed the branch yesterday.

Company director of Nock Deighton, David Jones, said: “Nock Deighton has transferred the Kidderminster business to head office at Bridgnorth.”  He added the firm’s other branches in Bridgnorth, Ludlow, Shrewsbury, Ironbridge and Telford attracted more national interest.
