Stourport Swifts boss Neil Hunt has added another signing to his blossoming squad after capturing Chris Cornes from Bromsgrove Rovers.

The Swifts host Leighton Town looking to overhaul a side who are just one place above them (12th) in the British Gas Midlands Division One table.

Hunt could hand a debut to midfielder Cornes, who only signed from divisional rivals Bromsgrove last night. The boss is delighted to have the 21-year-old.

He said; “A mutual friend kept me in touch and he wasn’t playing, so I made contact and it’s great to have him on board. He’s one of best midfielders in our league, the league above and the league above that.”

Cornes is the latest in a flurry of signings at Walshes Meadow and Hunt knows the pressure is on him to pick the right side, but for now he is just focused on beating Leighton.

Hunt said: “Leighton are just above us and hopefully we can win. We could have done with a game last week but we can’t do anything about it.

“One thing I do know is there is a buzz about the place.”
