Police name road victim

A Stone man has been named as the pedestrian who died after being hit by a lorry in Stoke-on-Trent.

Andrew McDonald, aged 43, who lived alone in the De-Wint Road area of the town, died at the scene of the crash on the A500, near City Road.

The collision happened at around 8.30pm on Wednesday.

Police are now investigating the circumstances of the crash and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Investigating officer Sgt Chris Cole said: “We are now working to piece together Mr McDonald’s final movements.” The driver of the HGV was uninjured. Any further witnesses are asked to call 0300 123 44 55.
