Appeal as woman is grabbed
Friday 10th October 2008, 10:36AM BST.
Police have appealed for the public’s help after a woman was grabbed by a man in Lichfield.
The woman, aged in her mid-20s, was walking home in the Chesterfield Road and Kensington Oval area of the city late last night when she was approached by a man, described as being in his late teens. This man then grabbed the woman who screamed and alerted a passer-by who ran to her aid.
The unknown offender fled the scene and detectives have today urged members of the public to contact them if they saw anything suspicious in the area last night.
Forensic experts were this morning examining the scene of the assault in an attempt to identify the man.
Police spokesman Pete Stevens said the attack was serious.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Lichfield police on 0300 123 4455.
