Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Reunited at school get-together
Thursday 9th October 2008, 11:32AM BST.
Former school pupils travelled from far and wide to reminisce about the old days.
More than 60 ex-pupils packed into Tividale Football club to enjoy the reunion. Most of those in attendance used to go to Tividale Community Primary School but some also attended Tividale Secondary Modern School – which is now Tividale Community Arts College.
Some of those who went along to the event journeyed from as far a field as Vancouver in Canada, Bath and Wales in order to catch up with some of their former playground pals.
The reunion was first held back in April when a group of former Tividale Primary pupils decided to try and track down their former class from the school and Tuesday’s event proved such a success they now plan to hold a reunion every six months.
Wendy Squires, nee Wall, from Stourport-on-Severn, was one of the organisers of the event and attended Tividale Community Primary School between 1945 and 1953.
The 67-year-old said it was wonderful for people to catch up with their childhood friends.
“It was amazing to see people’s faces light up with recognition when they saw someone they knew,” she said.
“Some people had changed quite a bit but there were others that you could still recognise.
“I think the next one we hold will have even more people coming along. I believe it is very important to keep in touch with the people you were educated with, it makes for a lovely sense of reunion.
“Some people really travelled far in order to attend the event including one of my oldest friend’s sister Jo Pountney who came from Canada.”
She is now asking other former pupils of Tividale Community Primary School and those in the local area from the 1940s to 1950s to come forward and get back in touch in time for the next reunion.
