Barnes wants Molineux pair

Wednesday 8th October 2008, 11:30AM BST.

bristol8.jpegWolves duo Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Karl Henry have been targeted by Jamaica coach John Barnes for international calls.

The two could qualify for the Caribbean island’s national side through their parentage as Barnes sets about recruiting British-based players.

Ebanks-Blake is currently with the England under-21s, but the rules governing international appearances would still give the striker the opportunity to choose Jamaica for senior caps.

Birmingham City’s on-loan Arsenal man Quincy Owusu-Abeyie played for the Dutch age-group teams all the way up to Under-21 level before opting to switch to Ghana, the homeland of his parents, for senior level.

And Henry, who has been producing the best football of his career as Wolves’ midfield leader this season, has yet to play any type of international football.

Both players are being sounded out about the proposition which comes from a manager ever likely to turn to his long experience of English football to strengthen a squad which has under-achieved in modern times.

The idea is likely to be more attractive to Henry as Ebanks-Blake, who is still only 22, may yet harbour hopes of one day challenging for England senior honours.

Manager Mick McCarthy will have mixed feelings about the potential for representative football for Henry, one of his favourite Molineux players, at a time when he already has 11 men spread out across the globe for international duty.

McCarthy is more concerned they return fit and well after his resources have been strained by  injuries.

That took the manager to Blackburn yesterday to watch a series of his fringe players and comeback duo Matt Murray and Mark Davies in the 1-1 draw.

“It was great to see Matt out there again getting an hour and the same for Mark Davies,” said McCarthy.

“Sylvan has joined up with England under-21s and they are taking a look at him and seem hopeful he might be able to be involved.”

Changing managers doesn’t bring results stick with mick get behind him and criticise at the end of the season if he has failed

There have been a few mentions of Carp on here today.Personally I like Carp, they’re great. Did you know Carp are from the Cyprinidae family and there are several different types of Carp, one of which is Cirrhinus Molitovella (The Mud Carp)? And if you ran over one in a Steam Roller you would most probably squash it. Honest.

It’s great to see Wolves players in international squads and it’s sure to boost their confidence and morale. The only way for players not to get injured is for them never to play for club or country.

Budtz is Danish, so yes he certainly was foreign. McCarthy should look more abroad as we do have some quality players around at cheap money. But maybe he has bad memories from his Millwall days where the signing of two Russian Internationals(Kulkov and Juran) meant that Millwall got relegated and into huge debt, not least because of the Russians giant pay cheque.

What if I posted that all commenters supporting Mick should go away and post somewhere else? You would be incensed, rightly so.

People who have supported Wolves all their lives dislike Mick’s management style, tactical approach, and his disrespect for the fans. They have an equal right to express their opinions as you.

Personally, I am giving Mick a chance, and I’ll make my own judgement when the season becomes clear, but nobody else will make that judgement for me.

i am am wolves fan but if you think we are going anywhere near the premier league with clueless mick in charge you are clearly as deluded as muppet mick is himself.after some of the pr disasters that came from his mouth last season no wolves fan should ever accept him as our boss !.the man is an arrogant, naeive fool and whilst he is at our club we will continue to be divided as a whole.the sooner fans waken up to this fools dictatorship the better, then yes we as midlanders can look forward to our football and hopfully with abit of success along the way, untill he’s gone all we will ever do is yo yo up and down the championship with his one dimensional football.no good manager can survive on plan a,and thats all clueless mick has PLAN A.but you will find out when were ccc 09/10

Wolves at the moment have a team of champions…they are not a champion team , and unless they recruit someone to assist Mick the muppet, they will never hold their own if promoted next season with the likes of Arsenal- Man.U or Chelsea…they would not even survive against the Albion outfit.

Wolves have a great deal of individual talent, and we need someone to mold them into a fully professional team.

I hear ‘El Tel’ is on the market looking for a new challenge…why not as assistant to MM…it would be dynamite.
