Glamour girls net charity cash
Saturday 4th October 2008, 11:34AM BST.
The glitz and glamour of the catwalk came to Walsall during a fashion show to raise money for two borough-based charities.
More than 100 people descended on Walsall Football Club to see a selection of latest designs from House of Fraser last night.
A total of 10 staff donned clothes in the Stadium Suite to collect cash for Acorns Children’s Hospice and Walsall Breast Cancer Group.
The fundraiser was arranged through the football club and House of Fraser, which is based in nearby Sutton Coldfield.
Around 140 tickets were sold for the evening and it is hoped more than £1,000 will be raised to be split between the charities.
Girls of all ages flocked to see clothing designs at the event which started at 7pm.
Among those in attendance was Pat Viggers who is a volunteer with the Walsall Breast Care Cancer Group.
The 62-year-old of Lonsdale Road, Walsall, said: “We couldn’t do what we do without the fundraising from different people. All money raised goes towards helping women in Walsall.”
