Stafford manager Steve Bull has released left wing-back Ishamel Reid from his Marston Road squad.

The 22-year-old ends a eight-month stay with Rangers and has yet to find a new club. He was earmarked to play a major role in the 3-5-2 formation Bully brought in over the summer, yet has struggled with groin injuries and has been used only sparingly this term.

Such is the form of Jonathan Loukes in his absence, along with the cover that non-contract player Alex Morris provides, that the boss has decided he can do without Reid.

Bull said: ” I just didn’t think that, with the way the side is going, Ishamel would fit in. I am not sure where is headed, I just shook his hand and told him to ring me if he needed anything.

“He did his job for the club, so fair play to him for that. We all wish him well.”

Some good news for the right side of the park is that Tom Thorley has been cleared to resume training after specialist advice, after missing the FA Cup defeat to Coalville on Saturday.

But captain Wayne Daniel is rated as ’60-40′ with thigh trouble, with Morris set to be assessed in Thursday’s training session.

Thorley and Morris could both be in contention to face Harrogate on Saturday, although the former is more likely to make it.

Recent injuries have proved what can happen to Rangers if the squad is stretched and Bully believes he must bring more players in if his squad are to cope.

He said: “I want fresh new faces in and to do that I needed to let some old of the faces go. That is just the way it is. I will probably need to spend a bit more money but I will juggle it anyway I can, to make sure we have the best squad we can afford.

“We are looking for players all over the park. Myself and assistant manager Chris Brindley are looking at players all over the place to see who we can bring in.

“It is looking as if it will to have to be more loan players now. The budget is stretched as it is, although maybe I can just about manage to bring another one or two in.”
