Six charged over hit-and-run death

Six men have been charged in connection with the death of a 59-year-old man in a road collision in Wolverhampton.

Stainton Barrett, from Wolverhampton, died in hospital after being hit by a car in All Saints, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Anthony Benson, aged 23, of Belle Vue Street, Woodcross, is charged with causing death by dangerous driving and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

Four other have been charged with affray and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. They are Andrew Currien, aged 30, of Pritchett Avenue, Lanesfield; David Garner, aged 26, of Beech Avenue, Woodcross; Daryl Rickhuss, aged 28, of Dovedale Road, Ettingshall Park; and Paul Welburn, aged 30, of Moseley Road, Bilston.

Ian Williams, aged 40, of Newman Avenue, Lanesfield, is charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
