The Glauch Reisen tour coach smashed into the wall at a house in Corporation Road behind the Quality Hotel.

No-one was on the coach when it crashed about 1.30am as all the guests were asleep.

The windscreen was shattered and bricks from the wall were strewn across the road, which had been taped off by a Dudley fire crew.

It is believed the handbrake had been correctly applied but the coach was parked on a hill.

Watch commander Andy Shakespeare, from Dudley fire station, said a large tree in the garden behind the wall probably stopped the coach from rolling further.

“The handbrake was on but it rolled down the hill,” he said. The coach was believed to be carrying around 30 passengers from Krefeld, near Dusseldorf. Passenger Ursula Lowan said they were in Worcester for a concert yesterday and hoped to go for a walk in the Malvern Hills today.

Gas engineer and Corporation Road resident Arran Malpass, aged 33, said: “I heard a bang and thought ‘bloody hell what’s this’, because there was a lot of rubble and dust, which looked like smoke, coming from the bricks.”

The coach was removed at around 11am.
