I said at the start of the month we would see how good we are at the end of September, and for me, we have already proved it. To win 3-1 at both Charlton and Preston was a mighty achievement in itself. The Palace win stands on paper as a win, despite it lacking the style of other games and today we have put away another fine time who will be in the shake up at the end. The biggest test comes on Tuesday, but there should be no sense of fear from anyone. Win, lose or draw Tuesday, I just can not see many teams in this league handling us this year. 8 on the bounce? Sounds absurd, but I am picturing goals. They will come to win it, and I think we will have too much for them. Considering the quality we have faced this month, we can only look forward to October rubbing our hands together — Swansea, Coventry, Norwich, Watford, and Swansea again. Shame the international break interrupts again, but look how strong we came back from the last one. The sun is shining pretty bright for us.

55 & 63 Everyone knows that Keogh is a “Link up player” BUT who exactly is Kites, Jarvis & D Jones providing service for – Is it just SEB or BOTH strikers???

If you make the effort to read what is being said – Yes Keogh is very good at running around all day, and putting in a shift BUT do we really need another “Link up man” or do we need a striker who can “rough up” the oppositions defence and get in where other lightweights fear to tread??? What happens when SEB fires blanks and we need a different option? If you had taken time to notice on Saturday you may well have seen Keogh making the same runs as SEB – which makes the attacking a little “predictable”

The point being made is simply to give Vokes longer than 5 to 10 mins in a game – If you stop and think for a moment you may realise that the reasons we want Vokes to be given longer than 5 or 10 mins etc is as follows:
    1) Vokes has scored more than Keogh
    2) Vokes offers similar options to Big Chris being in the side (Big physical presence)
    3) Vokes offers a better option in “mixing it up” with the oppositions defence and will stick his head in where it hurts

Keogh is a good squad player and as a link up man – we believe that playing him as a striker – we may as well play 4-5-1 or similar
We would love to see him shoot on sight; instead of looking like he is having a heart attack trying to get the ball to someone else (hot potato)

If Keogh can curb his persistant desire to pass when he should shoot first – he may well achive the 20 goals that he boasts he will score THIS season for the REAL fans

We dont need another passing attacking midfield player when we have Dave Jones, Kites and Jarvis on the pitch; we need someone like Big Chris to mix it up as we have been doing or do you lot want to watch lots of step overs and fewer goals???

Yes, give Keogh a go – BUT at least give Vokes longer than 10 minutes to get in the game!

    UP THE WOLVES!!!

Bridget & Tony, I’d try not to embarass yourselves again with such a poor post. Vokes is still young, and struggled in the games that he has started so far, he looks much better coming on when the opposition are tired. And I can not see how anyone would slate Keogh after his performance on Saturday – some people are never happy

  68. 68
    Bridget & Tony

67 What we actually said was give Vokes longer than 10 mins to get in the game – Keogh has great work rate, runs all day but also goes missing
Vokes struggled in 1 game – and scored how many vs Charlton? So whats embarrassing about saying that we need a target man opposed to someone who is really adding to Dave Jones, Kites and Jarvis’ roles of being a provider of service to the strikers?

For the past two seasons we have struggled with a lack of goals – people say that Keogh and SEB started to strike up a relationship at the end of last season – Keogh does not give the strike force that cutting edge that someone – a target man like Big Chris adds – that is 100% difference between this season and any other season so far – clinical finishing – bringing Vokes on for more than a 10 minute “guest appearance” will reap dividends – it did against Charlton and will again – or did you miss the 2 goals Vokes scored to put the game beyond Charlton?

So we say that Keogh is no clinical striker and that is called “slating him”??? His work rate is great etc but he lacks clinical finish? Is that really slating him or just telling it like it is?

Tell us- who exactly made a claim that he would score 20 goals this season – Keogh? Do you believe that Keogh will score 20 goals this season??? Personally, we believe that Keogh should keep his promises or not embarress himself by making such profound statements for the “real fans”

Try reading what was written – Vokes should be given longer than 10 mins to get into the game
Your version of Vokes is the lad struggled in one game – and that makes him incapable because he is 18yrs – remind us all how old a certain Wayne Rooney was and Robbie Keane???

Goals win games not step overs – That is why a target man alongside SEB has worked so well
Yes Vokes is not as experienced BUT giving 10 mins a game is not going to improve him

    UP THE WOLVES!
