jfeghrthuirthrtieoh.jpgTop tourist spot the Black Country Living Museum has scooped yet another gong after being named joint runner up for best UK attraction.

The Tipton Road museum was pipped to first place by Windsor Castle.

But the attraction, currently undergoing a £10 million expansion, was named joint runner up in the Group Leisure Awards sharing glory with theme park Alton Towers, in Staffordshire, and The London Eye.

Marketing manager at the museum, Emma Middleton, said: “This is a hotly contested award and the museum took on some of the biggest and the best in the country.

“To win runner up position against such stiff national competition is a credit to everyone who works here. This accolade places the museum firmly on the national map.”

The Group Leisure Awards, with 21 categories, were presented in Birmingham last night in front of 400 members of the UK and international travel trade.

Former England Rugby World Cup winner and Dancing on Ice star Kyran Bracken helped hand out the awards, voted for by readers of Group Leisure magazine.

Rob Yandell, managing editor and publisher of the magazine, said: “Congratulations to all of our winners and finalists.”
