what a stupid question it depends on who you support. You cant ask a fan to pick a better local derby over the one who their team is involved with.

    1. well what a no brain post that is from terrysteptoe, Wolves have always sold their tickets for the poorthorns, even when you used to give us the smethick end we’d sell the 5,000 tickets, you steptoes however have always struggled to sell your entire allocation at Molineux as most of you are too scared to come, and as for giving you an easy game I don’t think so. Wolves v steptoes is the biggest derby however seeing as your a brumie club I can see why you think that Villa would be your derby, but in truth Villa hate Blues and vice versa so they ain’t really bothered about a small club in sandwell Fact

As for always struggling to sell our allocation for the custard bowl have you forgotten the pie & a pint fiasco?.
Oh, and by the way, we are a small PREMIERSHIP club in Sandwell not a small chumpionship side in the tattiest city in the country!.

Calm down son and bow before your superior premiership neighbours.

It’s nice for you to think so highly of us as you remark that we are YOUR biggest derby.

Unfortunately you are not OUR biggest derby.

Now off you pop to the fizzy pop league and stop standing in our shadow….

I will really miss embarrassing you lot this year….

I don’t really care anymore. I’m sick and tired of all this “us and them”, “my dad is bigger than yours” rubbish between Wolves and WBA, and I think the E&S should stop stoking it. At present we’re in different divisions so its completely pointless.

As I’m currently working overseas I read the articles on this web site to try and stay in touch with how the Wolves are doing, but lately its all the same stuff. Which club is better? Whose fans are the best, and how many seats were empty at the last game!! Some of the people posting on here should just grow up.

To be honest some of the drivel placed on here about this subject is more akin to the school playground. Lets just chat about the football and stop with this sort of rubbish.

Peoples opinions vary, get used to it.

One question though, where is Happy Baggie? He had a lot to say last season on virtually every Wolves story but so far there has been nothing.

As for Terry above, I see your grammer has not improved. Quick lesson for you, “there” should read “their”, not too difficult is it, or should “too” be “to” or “two”. Go find out.

West Bromwich is in Sandewell and not Brum and Sandwell is in the Black Country so it has to be Wolves and for those of you who say Wolverhampton is not in the Black Country read your history, parts of Willenhall, Wednesfield and Bilston are in Wolverhampton and were known as the Black Country. The current league derby would be Vile but not the main one.

The historic boundaries of Staffordshire cover much of what is now the metropolitan county of West Midlands. An administrative county of Staffordshire was set up in 1889 under the Local Government Act 1888 covering the county except the county boroughs of Wolverhampton, Walsall, and West Bromwich in the south (the area known as the Black Country),

I have to agree with Wolves 1877. There just isn’t the rivalry between us and Villa, Blues and (some also include) Coventry as there is between us and Wolves. I don’t include Walsall as a lot of baggie fans see Walsall as our second club and the games between us as a “friendly”.

I was brought up to hate the Villa, so this has always been the game for me. I have plenty of Wolves-supporting friends and contrary to what you might think after reading these pages, they’re all good blokes and much the same as us. Villa fans, on the other hand, are all pubescent chipmunks. So it will be good to see our boys do the business on Sunday.

Actually it depends what era you were brought up in. The older fans will always say Villa’s the derby but the younger ones will say Wolves.

    Wolves 1877

It’s the same with Villa, the older ones would choose Albion, the younger Blues.

Although I remember a national poll not too long ago that said the biggest derby (most passion etc.) is Albion Wolves. Bobby Robson also said that Albion Wolves was as big as Rangers Celtic, Man U Liverpool etc etc.

As an aside, The way the post code system was set up meant that the primary sorting office for the local area was either Birmingham or Dudley. I believe they followed the telephone area which put West Bromwich in the Birmingham Telephone Area, along with Oldbury and Blackheath. They got a B as a post code since all mail for the area was first sent to the Sorting Office in Birmingham for resorting and onward distribution.
    Hope that helps

Back in the day(80′S) when the Dingles were a small fry 4th division team who had to rely on us selling them a saviour, Albion V Vile was by far the biggest Derby as it was always played at the Highest level.

But due to our own under achievemnt as a club over the last 20 years and the fact that the Dingles will always be a second tier team, recently the Dingle Derby has been the biggest as its the one we have played more often.

Personally for me There’s nothing better than going in to work Monday morning and rubbing the Dingles noses in the CR4P that is their football team.

Come on the Preston this weekend.
