Tragic. This road has always been dangerous and because it’s on the border of Wolverhampton and South Staffs no-one seems to take responsibility and it gets overlooked(poor lighting,no traffic slowing measures).BUT,PLEASE SLOW DOWN.

This accident is tragic. There have been safety improvements on this stretch of road particularly at the junction of Barnhurst lane and the Wobaston Road. There are new street lights around the scene of this accident. To suggest that no one takes responsibility for the road because it runs from one area onto another is a rather strange observation.
There is a culture of speeding into and out of Bilbrook and Codsall whether it be on Wood Road, Birches Road, or the Wobaston Road that needs to be addressed. Unfortunately there seems to be very little will to stop the street racers from hurtling around. They know who they are and should take heed and slow down. Otherwise I am afraid we will be reading more stories like this one.

there doesn’t appear to be any evidence at this time and in this article for speeding being involved in this accident ?

A GREAT LOSS FOR SIMONS FAMILY. OUR THOUGHTS GO OUT TO THEM. WHEN WILL THESE YOUNG DRIVERS LEARN THAT TOO DRIVE A CAR FAST YOU NEED TO BE ABLE TO CONTROLL THE CAR AND THINK ABOUT OTHER ROAD USERS. SIMONS KIDS NOW ARE WITH OUT A FATHER. ASK YOUR SELF BEFORE YOU TURN ON THE IGNITION IS IT ALL WORTH IT.

These accidents could be avoided if insurance companies didn’t insure these young lads in high performance cars. You have to be a certain age to have high performance motorbikes maybe the law should be changed so cars are the same.

Firstly I wish to offer the mans partner, children and family my condolences for your tragic loss.
From the two car’s positioning after the accident, it really doesn’t take a genius to work out that the Golf GTI was actually speeding. Clearly Evidence is a friend of the GTI driver trying to protect him.
Which is obviously wrong. Everyone who’s seen the tragic site knows what happened and it will not bring the man to his family but I’m sure the Crown and the police prosecution services will work it out to and justice will be served !

I haven’t seen Simon for years, but my friend sent me a message about his tragic accident, my heart sank. What an awful thing to happen to such a kind guy!

i would like to comment that if the driver wasnt speeding then why was this person on the wrong side of the road!!! if he was doing as the law states and driving on the right side of the road then simon would still be here today with his family which is where he loved to be!

in response to Justice, i am not trying to protect anybody. i have / had not seen the accident scene, and only have the information provided in this paper / web-site to go on, and my comment was solely based on the information in this article.
this is a terrible event for the people involved, and the last thing i would do is try to defend someone who, going by the comments here, has caused such a thing to happen. my sympathies go out to the family.

Simon was a cheeky little chappie at Uplands Junior School, highlighted by the fact that he was the only one on our year’s photo winking at the camera!! I haven’t seen him really since leaving Uplands, but my thoughts are with his family.
