Check out a night with ‘the Wednesfield Bomber’ Steve Saville as he prepared to lock horns with Chris Long in the main event at the Civic.
At the end of it all, Saville was the victor – although the win came at a price.
He sustained cuts that ruled him out of his next planned bout at the Civic on September 26.
But he need not fret, instead he competes for the Midland Area title against Baz Carey in another big Civic show on November 9.

well what a brilliant night of boxing at the civic
There were some exellent fight but they saved the best untill last.Steve saville is an out and out fighter.not frightened of any opponent ,and so exiting to watch.his opponent chris Long was a tough nut to crack. In the 1st round steve almost knocked him out ,I dont know how he stayed on his feet as i was ringside and he stumbled back at least 10 ft and his eyes were lifeless but the bell saved him.And for 4 rounds it was a real battle .steve would stun him and i thought he wouldn’t come back from steve’s punches but he did ,again and again.Steve took a lot of punches as well but never looked unsteady once.but he did get a cut so there was at 1st a time where i thought i hope they don’t stop the fight .Luckily it wasn’t serious enough to stop the fight and his corner were soon fixing him up.In the end after a real tough fight steve won on points. No other decision as steve was the superior fighter.but what a fight.
Met steve and partner in bar later and you could not wish to meet nicer people
BUT I WOULDN’T LIKE TO UPSET HIM

What a crackin’ fight. Well done ste!
Forgive my ignorance but is a 28 day ban the norm for a cut?

Yes that’s right it’s 28 days, so he’ll miss the next one but jump straight in on October 9th against Baz Carey.
