Saturday 13th September 2008, 10:12AM BST.
One Night With Queen, Grand Theatre, WolverhamptonThe winner of Stars in Their Eyes 2000, Gary Mullen and his band The Works, rocked Wolverhampton last night with their tribute to the legendary Freddie Mercury and Queen.
The audience were on their feet from the start as the band opened with the enduring classic One Vision and it wasn’t long until hands were sore from clapping.
The band delivered hit after hit including The Seven Seas of Rye, I Want to Break Free, Killer Queen, Under Pressure and a fantastic version of Another One Bites the Dust with the melody of Good Times by 1970s band Chic cleverly worked into the middle.
Working the crowd, Gary ensured maximum audience participation throughout.
An amazing encore of Radio Ga Ga, We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions rounded off the evening.
While nothing can compare to the original supergroup, it was a great night of entertainment.
