Fans Forum: Pick your topic

Monday 8th September 2008, 6:00AM BST.

goal.jpgDo you enjoy a good debate on Expressandstar.com early in the morning? Well here is your chance to pick the sporting topic.

Post what you would like to talk about on the comments page, we will pick the best one and take it from there!

Now you have your chance every day to post the question you would like your fellow commenters to debate.

It could be something related to our local clubs (e.g. ‘Will the new signings answer Wolves defensive problems?’ or ‘What striker should Albion bring in January?’).

It could be a national topic (e.g. ‘Who will replace Alan Curbishley at West Ham?’ or ‘Will England qualify for the World Cup in 2010?’)

You have until 10am. Go!

If you were Wolves Chairman and an offer of lets say £10 million came in for one of our key players, would you accept it and use the money on all round team strengthening or would you turn it down out of hand?

Should the national team ONLY be shown on terrestrial TV ?

Is it wrong to sell the national teams games to the highest bidder – I don’t know anyone who actually watched the England game.

Club or country? Do you find this break an annoying nuisance? I’m proud to be English but I’m no longer that bothered about England as a football team. This has nothing to do with lack of success and lacklustre performances, after all neither of these has affected 47 years supporting the Baggies. I still want England to win but I feel alienated as a fan.
I remember when Bryan Robson was playing out of his skin for us yet couldn’t get a start for England. A campaign in the local media was labelled ‘parochial’ by then manager Ron Greenwood. As soon as Robson moved to United he instantly became a fixture in the England team. A similar thing has happened with Barry at the Villa. To be an England regular ie. Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard, you need to play for the ‘big four,’ how many people think Walcott is a better player than Ashley Young?
Wembley is another example. We are landed with this overpriced bauble because it has to be in London. It cost more than the Millenium Stadium, the National Stadium in Paris and Croke Park in Ireland put together. Because it is in London the capacity is lower than it needs to be, at certain games seats are empty that could be used because of the pricing structure to finance this white elephant and travelling to games is the same old nightmare that it’s always been at Wembley (I’ll ignore the matter of the surly staff, so different to the Millenium.) Are people who live in Newcastle not as English as the rest, why do they have to travel over two hundred miles if they wish to see a mid-week international?
I feel that the England team relates very little to me now. Club or country? Club every time. Do you agree?
