Yates happy with Harriers

yates1.jpegKidderminster manager Mark Yates is happy with his side’s progress as they took another step in the right direction with a 1-0 win against Torquay.

The Harriers were up against it in dreadful conditions at a rain swept Aggborough last night, against a side much-fancied to be in the promotion shake up in the Blue Square Premier this season.

The weather made it difficult for either side to really play as they would like, but it was a flowing move that ended with Matthew Barnes-Homer’s decider for Harriers, lifting them into the top ten.

Yates, reflecting on nine points of 11 in their last four games, hailed his side’s resilience.

He said: “”It was a hard game for the players. We are a footballing side and the weather negated us from bringing the ball down as we like to. But the players battled on against a good Torquay side and we got the result we deserved.

“It is another win from what has been a productive couple of weeks for us. If we can beat Grays on Sunday we will be in an even better position. But we are keeping our feet on the ground.

“I am pleased with how we are going. We are a young side but I feel that a lot of the good things we were doing at the back end of last season are continuing into this.”
