00:15: Well thats it! The transfer window slams shut with Wolves the big winners bringing three players in.
23:35: NO DEAL! Albion confirm that there will be no more signings. So no striker. Neil Clement also does not leave.
23:33: BIG DEAL! Word spreads that Robinho is now a Manchester City player. Who could have predicted that this morning?
23:10: DEAL! Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey reveals George Friend has signed.
23:07: Fulham have brought in Julian Gray from Coventry City on a season-long loan and released Alexei Smertin by mutual consent.
22:38: DEAL! Matt Hill signs from Preston for an undisclosed fee, with striker Stephen Elliott going the other way.
We just await confirmation of left-back George Friend from Exeter and its a hat-trick!
22:32: NO DEAL! Walsall director Roy Whalley confirms there will be no in’s or out’s at the Banks’s. So Saddlers fans…Anthony Gerrard stays!
22:30: Reading confirm no in’s or outs. Bad news for their rivals. Harper, Doyle and Stephen Hunt all stay!
22:16: Manchester City receive another boost in their bid to land Robinho. Sources in Spain suggest Real Madrid will not sell him to Chelsea.
22:15: Everton sign goalkeeper Carlo Nash from Wigan for an undisclosed fee on a two-year contract.
22:13: Deal in place for Robinho is for a transfer fee of £32.5million. Cheap!

16:32: News breaking that Liverpool striker Andriy Voronin is going to the Bundesliga in a season-long loan to Hertha Berlin.
15:59: Liverpool full-back Steve Finnan has signed for Spanish side Espanyol on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
15:58: Walsall boss Jimmy Mullen tells Expressandstar.com that there has been no bid for Anthony Gerrard – or any other player for that matter.
Mullen also does not expect any players to be coming into the club.
15:57: Liverpool bring in their second 18-year-old of the day – Hungarian goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi. He spent last season on-loan in the reserves at Anfield and joins from MTK Hungaria.
15:56: League One Peterborough complete the signing of Fulham defender Gabriel Zakuani on a one month loan.
15:55: It emerges that Manchester City are willing to pay £34million for Berbatov, eclipsing Manchester United’s take-it-or-leave-it £25million offer.

Shackell is a good player and could prove a bargain at around £1 million. Never heard of Matt Hill, is he any good? I still think Higginbotham would be a great assett to us – good player at this level and he’s done it before.

Nugents not a firm target. We’re in talks with a Prem club over a striker on loan + we’ve made a move for a prem DM. Donk will sign. Maybe use up another 1/2 loans. The likes of Pele..Beattie might go. Clement will go Hull if he passed the medical

If Shackell is such a good player how come he is currently only a sub for Norwich.I can remember his reckless tackle when he got sent off against us.He was also a regular in the Norwich side a couple of years ago that was leaking 3 goals a week. Talk on the Norwich site is the fee will be less than the original £1m offered.No doubt Jez will be telling everybody what a bargain he has negotiated. But Jez it should be all about the value added to the team not just the transfer fee.Like others I think Higginbotham wuold be the better bet to help us get promotion. After the start we have had Mick deserves to get his first choice.

I cant say sorry mate i’ve got someone in the family who works in the club. The player was Andrei Vorinon(SP?) from Liverpool but it looks very unlikely. We’ve also watched Damian Plessis from Liverpool who’s a DM and is avaliable on Loan. Clement is having a medical at Hull as we speak. 19) We cant afford he’s wages. He;s on 45k a week at Blackburn.

lets hope we seal the deals for both defenders today, shackell would be an astute signing and matt hill will be a good signing he will not be a huge fans favourite like elokobi but he will be solid and dependable and at least Stephen Elliott is leaving. With us not spending that big on centre halves I have an inkling that he just may just sign 1 more attacking forward/winger, injuries have cost us many times in the past and MM may just add to his firepower.
Where as the baggies need a striker instead of buying defensive player’s, in fairness to albion they havne’t been as bad at the back as expected but they are lacking a quality 10-15 goals a season man i.e kevin phillips, bad decision by mowbray to let him go as miller, bedner, l.moore are not good enough for the top flight and David Nugent as a possible signing again not a big goalscorer.
C’mon you Wolves and lets get the deals done!

Ryan Donk had an outstanding 2005-2006 season at RKC Waalwijk, and with an expiring contract, he wanted to make a step up to a higher level. AZ first approached him, AFC Ajax, PSV Eindhoven and even Spanish giants FC Barcelona showed serious interest in him.
As for Peter Luccin, he has played for Bordeaux, Marseille, PGS, Celta Vigo, Atletico Madrid…..speaks for itself pal

Lets be sensible Albion fans, rather than band around names like Jason Roberts. If we sign a striker it either going to be someone we have been linked to e.g. Nugent (I wouldn’t want him) or perhaps Trejo. Failing that we’ll sign a player no-one has really heard of who will end up setting the place alight e.g a Koren/Gera/Zuiverloon. I was never that excited with Zheng Zui to be honest. Better than average Championship player with Prem experience playing poor football in a poor team. Midfield Smidfield – We need a goalscorer (not just a striker)

No deal at the Hawthorns apparently for the right money. We’ve had all summer to sort this out. Luke Moore needs to sort his head out otherwise he can go in January. Letting KP Leave was fair enough but we knew this and we needed another goalscorer. Bednar, Miller, Moore, Sherjill and Beattie have not got the firepower required. Luke Moore played 77 mins for our reserves tonight and still hasn’t managed a sniff of a goal. I’m struggling to understand what mowbray saw in this guy to justify 3.5 million and why the hell did he let KP go? It’s beyond me.

402 Moggas – totally agree on Trejo scored about 2 goals in 24 last season and is unproven – we have already wasted time and money on Moore and Sherjil who are unproven – did not want that one. Also 4m (NoTW sunday) for Nugent seemed too high a risk for a 6m flop who has been warming the bench for 12 months. Happy that some of the rumoured moves have not happened.
Disappointed though since the only MUST have aquisition since Zuiverloon’s arrival was a striker and we failed to route one out. That’s bad scouting and contract management. Expect the same flannel from JP tomorrow about the right deal not being available. WHAT – NOT in 4 long months since the FA Cup semi when it was clear we lacked a goalscorer to finish off our asthetic aproach play has the right deal been available – I wont buy that JP. An as I have said previously on this thread come Jan we may well be looking at a goalscorer whose first meaningful task will be to get us back to the Prem rather than keep us in it.
And the shirt sponsorship deal still not concluded despite numerous promises of an announcement.
JP and TM have done well over the last two years but when the former can’t sell the club on or invest further then it will be the latter I fear that will depart first in order to continue his rise in English Football Management.

Really pleased with the night’s business, although I would have wanted a really good striker for you Baggies and felt Higginbotham with his experience and ability would have been a great addition for us Wolves. I’m disappointed that we weren’t able to sign a forward before the window closed and I’m certainly concerned about the depth of our current striker options. This is a big chance for Miller, Moore and Bednar and I just hope one or two of them find their touch in front of goal soon. Defense (including goalkeepers) and midfield look strong but we need someone to start scoring on a regular basis

No Strikers for the Baggies. No sleep for Terry, no hope for the Albion, no Baggie wins in the Prem, no sponsor for the Baggies.
We got all three of our targets. We have a sponsor, we’ve got Strikers who are scoring. We are top of the league. Baggies are bottom of their’s. All in all, a great night to be a Wolves Fan.
