Wolves 5 Forest 1
Saturday 30th August 2008, 2:55PM BST.
David Jones’ early opener, a Wes Morgan own goal and a brace from Michael Kightly either side of a Chris Iwelumo strike sweeps Forest away, who can only reply through a Richard Stearman own goal.
16:51: Full-time whistle blows.
16:42: Keogh’s cross is met with a header from Iwelumo, who is denied by a stunning save from Forest goalkeeper Paul Smith.
16:34: Kightly leaves the field to a standing ovation. He is replaced by Michael Gray.
16:33: Edwards has the ball in the net but the referee judges him to have handled the ball in controlling it.
16:30: Andy Cole, Gareth McCleery and Kelvin Wilson replace James Perch, Tyson and Chambers for Forest.
16:25: Chambers somehow escapes a second yellow card for kicking out at Kightly.
16:24: Wolves fans christen Jarvis and Kightly “Havoc and Mayhem.”
16:23: Jarvis and Ebanks-Blake are replaced by David Edwards and Andy Keogh.
16:21: Karl Henry’s great ball to the right finds Kightly, who curls another beauty into the corner.
16:13: Chambers booked for Forest.
16:12: Richard Stearman’s own goal pulls one back for Forest.
16:02: Second-half begins.
15:47: Half-time whistle blows to deafening applause. Wolves have been a force to be reckoned with.
15:45: Iwelumo on the end of a move to make it 4-0.
15:44: Kightly’s drive unmarked makes it 3-0.
15:42: Something vaguely resembling a shot from Forest striker Robert Earnshaw is gathered easily by Hennessey.
15:39: Wolves striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake has the ball in the net but is ruled out for offside.
15:37: Another dangerous run from Jarvis is stopped this time by Chambers – for a change. Jarvis and Kightly have torn Chambers and Julian Bennett to bits for the first 37 minutes.
15:33: Kightly’s rasping drive cannons off the crossbar.
15:29: Jones delivery into the box strikes Forest defender Wes Morgan on the back of his head and goes in.
15:27: Kightly clattered by Forest midfielder Lee Martin, yet he escapes a booking.
15:20: Wolves winger Michael Kightly squares the ball after a surging run, nearly forcing Forest defender Luke Chambers to put through his own net.
15:18: Iwelumo heads over in the area.
15:14: Wolves striker Chris Iwelumo sets up midfielder David Jones to put Wolves ahead in style.
15:12: Forest striker Nathan Tyson races in from the flank and connects with a shot but Wolves goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey saves comfortably.

Good luck Wolves, had a feeling one of the Wards was gonna be filling in at left back. Still if it doesn’t work we’ve got Gray who can come on. Behind the lads all the way! 3-2

I am surrendering:
SUPER, SUPER MICK, SUPER, SUPER MICK, SUPER MICK MCCARTHY….
For all the things he has done wrong(dont forget Jarvis started the season on the bench), this is amazing.

4 up at half time, who would have believed that an hour ago. Can we keep this up all season? Maybe this is our year, barring any more injuries.
Well done Wolves, keep it up
Report abuse
My oh my, I’m lost for words. I think the last time we scored 4 or more in the first half was against Gillingham 5 years ago, and that was the season we went up. Hopefully another good omen… all we need is for Blouses to draw or lose and we will go into the international break top of the table. At present we have a goal difference of +9. Things are looking good, folks…

Danish Wolf I am going to fly the white flag with you…….. I was a big anti Mick fan but now, wow, this is amazing

what a great result. Having Jarvis and knightly on the wings was great to see. There is not many defences that can cope with those to in full flow. lets get behind the boys and get the mighty Molineux rocking.

Great Result Wolves! Definitely the best forward line in the Championship at the mo…simply Irresistible! GREATTTTTTTTT

Dont want to get carried away but we are top of the league – god that makes me feel good. Too early to say that this is our year but results like that of today builds the sort of confidence needed to sustain a level of performance that will be necessary to see us through to next May. Up the Wolves!
Well done, Wolves and well done to the supporters for the terrific atmosphere. Where are all the congratulations from the stripey lot? Not like them to be ignoring our sites.
Without doubt the best first half I have seen at Molineux for a long time. The thing that really struck me was how delighted every single player was for whoever scored. If we can make two signings in defence, we’ll have a very promising season ahead of us.
Just glad that with the exception of 23, WolvesWolves, all the negative morons have now disappeared. They are all pouring their bile and negativity onto their ugly wives and ugly daughters.
wolveswolves your an idiot, please go and support another team, your life must be more depressing than eastenders with the silly little comments you come out with.
Tell us again why you love MM so much?????

Well done Wolves. Keep it up !
