Two women who share the same name will soon be doing the same job after training as police community support officers for the Wyre Forest.

Jen Hughes has joined the Habberley, Blakebrook and Franche team in Kidderminster while Jeni Bray has joined the Bewdley team.

Both completed seven weeks of training at West Mercia Constabulary’s headquarters at Hindlip Hall, Worcester, before taking up their posts.

Mrs Hughes is originally from Bangor, Northern Ireland, but moved to this country when she met and married her husband.

The former project administrator, aged 34, of Worcester, said: “After 16 years of office work I wanted a change and also wanted to do something for the community. The training as a police community support officer was really good and we developed a fantastic bond and I’m now getting to know my way around Kidderminster and in particular around Habberley.”

Out of work, Mrs Hughes, a former Community First Responder first aider, said she loves walking her bull mastiff dog Harvey. Meanwhile, Jeni Bray has joined the Bewdley team with a wealth of local knowledge having been born and bred in the town.

Prior to joining the force Mrs Bray worked as an engineer for six years for West Midland Safari and Leisure Park in Bewdley.

The former Wribbenhall Middle and Bewdley High school pupil said: “I know the town well and I’m looking forward to the job.”
