Family’s fears as girl, 14, is missing
Friday 22nd August 2008, 3:25PM BST.
A schoolgirl has vanished following a day out with friends leaving her mobile on the bus amid fears she has run off with a man she met over the internet.
Kirsty Robbins’ distraught family today described her disappearance as totally out of character.
The 14-year-old, of Kinfare Rise, Gornal, failed to return home on Wednesday evening after telling her mother she was boarding the 558 home from Dudley town centre where she had spent a few hours with friends at the bowling alley.
Her family said police removed Kirsty’s laptop from the house and have told them there is evidence she has been talking with a man over the internet who lives in the Winson Green area of Birmingham.
They understand officers have been round to an address in the area twice but have failed to speak to anyone.
Her mobile phone, which she takes everywhere with her, was found on the 558 by another passenger the day after she vanished.
Kirsty’s distraught grandmother Jill Hickman, who has travelled from her home in Blackpool, appealed for the Ellowes Hall pupil to come home.
She said: “We are all very concerned. Kirsty has never gone missing before and this is very out of character for her.”
