Businesses snubbing The Public
Friday 22nd August 2008, 11:43AM BST.
Not a single business has taken up the chance of moving into state-of-the- art new facilities at the Black Country’s Public arts centre.
Only one company, Major Key Studios, is operating from the £57 million building in West Bromwich, despite council plans for it to become a hub for creative businesses.
Fifteen “lily pad” office spaces – pods measuring a total of 3,000 sq ft – are still empty on the fourth floor.
Another area on the second floor has been designated for business use, yet remains empty two months after the building opened its doors. In total there is 15,000 sq ft of business space still to let.
Property consultants Lambert Smith Hampton, says it is “in talks’ with a couple of interested parties.

I can’t beleive this. An arts facility that was way over budget, late..and yet the client base has yet to be established? Incredible.

I visited my homeland in June, and was taken to see the monstrosity. Whatever was the town planners and the architects thinking of, when they decided that the citizens of Sandwell, would approve this building?
To paint it a sickly pink is beyond belief.
