wicket_keeper.jpgFordhouses captain Russell Thompson believes his team will take heart from past glories when they take on Kington looking to cement their Birmingham League place.

Thompson’s men take on a side who are 25 points above them, knowing Kington must then meet leaders Wombourne on Monday.

The captain believes the Bank Holiday weekend gives his side a good chance to leapfrog Saturday’s opponents.

He said: “We’re not over-confident but we know they are a team we have beaten already this season, so that should give us some belief.

“We know they have to play Wombourne on Monday, so if we can beat them will give us a decent chance of catching them.

“We are pretty confident because we did well last Saturday, before the rain came down. We made 169-9 against Bridgnorth and we had them 26-1.”

Wombourne can virtually make sure of their promotion to the second division with good results against Bridgnorth on Saturday and Kington on Monday.

They begin the weekend with a 41-point lead over second-placed Brockhampton.
Lichfield, who look to be stranded in mid-table, take on Oswestry on Saturday and Bablake Old Boys on Monday.
