Builder hits gold with design
Wednesday 20th August 2008, 8:12PM BST.
Olympics-mad builder Chris Bradley was quick off the blocks when he was asked to come up with an unusual design for a customer’s driveway.
The wacky Olympic rings design was created after householder Olive Bough challenged the builder to come up with an unusual block paving pattern for her driveway in Lindon Road, Brownhills.
Mr Bradley said he had the brainwave after he started creating huge circles using the bricks.
“Mrs Bough said she didn’t want the usual diamond design and she wanted something different,” the builder said.
“It wasn’t my plan initially but I started making circles and then it just sort of escalated into the Olympic rings.”
Mr Bradley, who runs a building and landscaping firm in Essington, said it was his most outlandish creation during his 21 years in the business.
