Boss won’t be rushing star keeper

Wolves keeper Matt Murray has begun the latest treatment to end his injury nightmare as boss Mick McCarthy warned fans he won’t be rushed back.
The former England under-21 international, who has been out for 14 months with a cruciate knee ligament injury, suffered a setback last month when he started getting inflammation in his left knee.
A course of injections followed and the 27-year-old is now waiting for the joint to settle down before restarting training again.
“He’s had a course of injections to tighten his ligament up and it will take time,” said McCarthy.
“He’s not ready to be involved for the reserves yet.
“He’s doing nothing at the moment apart from his weights. He’s just taking his time.”
McCarthy added: “He’s coming along OK – he’s been doing a bit with the physios.
“I’d be raising hopes if I said when I thought he’d be back in full training but he’s just ticking along nicely and doing fine.
“The physios are happy, the doctors are happy and he’s happy at where he is at the moment.
“But anything I say puts pressure on him. He’s alright.”
McCarthy revealed that the impressive form of Carl Ikeme in pre-season meant he has not been tempted to even think of trying to get Murray to quicken up his recovery process.
“Because we’ve got Carl Ikeme too, that’s why I can take it nice and easy with Matt without pushing him at all,” added the boss.
“A minimum of 46 games is a long, long season, so we’ll take it nice and easy with Matt.”
l Right-back Mark Little could be set for a loan move. Little, who captained the reserves in their 2-1 win at Wigan yesterday, is wanted by an un-named Championship club as well as League One side Northampton, where he had a successful spell last season.
