Shoppers will be able to take a step back to medieval times and learn some traditional skills from the era including making weapons for battle at a re-enactment day in a Black Country town.

Alongside the historical demonstrations in Brierley Hill a medieval jester will be on hand to offer families some traditional entertainment.

For children who prefer more modern activities there will be face painting.

Several birds of prey from the Falconry Centre in Hagley will also be on show. The event takes place in the Moor Centre on August 30 from 11am to 3pm.

The birds of prey will only be on show between midday and 2pm.

Organised by Dudley Council, all the events are free of charge. Councillor Malcolm Knowles, the Dudley Council cabinet member who is responsible for regeneration in the area, praised the event.

He said: “Our medieval events are so colourful that it is no wonder so many people always come to the town to see the re-enactors at work.

“With such exciting activities and displays on offer including the magnificent birds of prey there will be something for everyone at this event.”
