V excited festival fans arrive
Friday 15th August 2008, 11:42AM BST.
Music lovers have been arriving in their droves as excitement builds for this weekend’s V Festival.
Nearly 90,000 are expected to flock to Weston Park for the festival tomorrow and Sunday. The sun was shining today as early arrivals began setting up their tents.
Motorists were also gearing up for a busy time, with a number of arrangements in place to try and minimise disruption on the nearby Staffordshire roads and along the M54 and M6.
The event will feature performances from big-name stars including Amy Winehouse, The Verve, Kings of Leon and Muse.
Victoria Webb and Jessica Plant, both 18, from Stoke-on-Trent, were among the first revellers arriving this morning.
Jessica said she would be celebrating at the festival after receiving her A-level results yesterday. She said: “I am looking forward to a brilliant weekend.
“The only thing that would make this even better is if Amy Winehouse shows up.”
