Wolves U18′s just miss third title

Wolves’ academy under-18′s just missed out on a third successive title win in the Dutch Velo international tournament.
John Perkins’s side lost out to German side Osnabruck in the final by the only goal.
Wolves beat the Irish Republic development squad 4-0 in the semis with goals from Sam Winnall (2), Kyle Bennett and Mike Wardle.
They reached the semis after drawing 2-2 with Den Haag, Ashley Hemmings twice putting Wolves ahead.
In the group games, Wolves beat Denmark 3-2 thanks to Winnall (2 – one penalty) and Danny Batth before thrashing local side Venlo 9-0, courtesy of Winnall (4), James Davis, Kyle Bennett, Nathaniel Laing, Mark Connolly and Batth.
Perkins said: “Whilst we are all disappointed to lose in the final, the tournament was a great experience for the lads.”
Games in the tournament were played on a 30 minutes each way basis, with Wolves’ first coming shortly after their arrival in the Netherlands.
