Kidderminster manager Mark Yates sees no reason why the Harriers cannot pick up their first three points of the campaign in what looks to be a tricky trip to Cambridge United in the Blue Square Premier tonight (7:45pm).

His side were pegged back to a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to promoted Lewes in their season opener at Aggborough, an unfortunate own goal from Dean Bennett cancelling out Justin Richards first half strike.

While Yates concedes it was not the perfect start, it is forward rather than back he is looking, starting with a trip to the Abbey Stadium, where the Harriers were 3-0 winners last term.

He said: “We don’t fear going there. We don’t fear going anywhere. It will be a tough test for us to come back with three points but there are no easy teams in this league. The sooner we realise that the better.

“It was not a great start against Lewes and we know that. Now we need to show our mettle, go down to Cambridge and be the better team on the night.”

Yates also insists that no fingers were pointed after the game – it was a team effort.

He said: “We are not blaming anyone for Saturday’s result. We win, draw and lose as a team. There were areas where we could have done better and it is up to us to make that right – as a team.

“There is no panic. We just want to carry on going and make up the ground we have lost.”
