Is Dubya a hypocrite?

Thursday 7th August 2008, 12:07PM BST.

Our American friend George W Bush has finally spoken out about China before the start of the Beijing Olympics but all he has done is expose himself as a hypocrite – on two different levels, writes blogger Charlie Cashdan.

Bless him for trying but, in my eyes, Dubya never gets it right!

Bush has expressed ‘deep concerns’ over China’s human rights record just before the start of the Olympics.

This from a man not exactly known for his own glowing record on the human rights issue, supporting the death penalty and starting a big war being two perfect examples.

And then he goes on to say “America stands in firm opposition to China’s detention of political dissidents, human rights advocates and religious activists’.  Not at all like the situation at Guatanamo Bay then?

Don’t get me wrong, I completely agree with him and can’t understand why on earth problematic, smog-infested Beijing got awarded the Olympics in the first place but the old saying about stones and glass houses jumps to mind.

The other really annoying thing about Bush’s self righteous posturing is that he will still be sitting there in his VIP seat during the opening ceremony enjoying all the free hospitality and having a lovely time!

Not much of a stance against China’s rights then really George, more of a “Oh, better say something about all the goings on to save face and show I care, which I do of course, but there’s no need to miss out on a great freebie!”

Drop the crappy human rights act charlie theres nothing wrong with the death sentence for some of societies hardened criminals ,especially child offenders. George bush is full of it i agree but at least he’s got the balls to defend his country. trouble is people don’t like it when the true sword of power if wielded.
