Wolves club reporter John Hendley got to rub shoulders with Barcelona president Juan Laporta – but the latter seemed a little confused following their meeting.
As the only other member of the Wolves party at the Hibernian v Barcelona friendly to be wearing trousers, ‘Foz’ was invited into the presidential suite at Murrayfield with boss Mick McCarthy.
Listening to the president’s speech on the Catalan giants’ 109th anniversary, ‘Foz’ was reminded of a previous encounter with Barcelona. Foz told McCarthy about how he embarked on a holiday which took in a four-team tournament at the Nou Camp involving Barca, Rangers, Ajax and Atletico Bilbao to mark the club’s 75th birthday in 1974.
You may have thought recounting the tale to the Wolves manager was enough. But after consulting with McCarthy, Foz plucked up the courage to go one step further and tell the story to the Barca president.
Laporta was, shall we say, bemused to say the least at Foz’s monologue – especially as the Wolves man said the 75th anniversary had been in 1971. Taxi for Foz!

Things you do for the Express & Star video diary – Part One.
Myself and photographer Gavin Dickson were threatened with the police yesterday – all for the Express & Star’s video team! In our ever-exhaustive efforts to find new and interesting backdrop scenery, we were filming the daily video clip outside the Ineos oil refinery in Grangemouth. Videoing on the road opposite, we thought we would be on safe ground.
Completing our work, we were about to pack up and head off to the Wolves training session when Ineos contracts manager George Holland introduced himself and asked us to report to the security staff on the gate. Apparently any filming of company property has to be approved by the firm.
A lecture which included demands for identification and a threat to call the police was followed by a quick phone call later, and we were finally allowed to leave the premises.

Things you do for the Express & Star video diary – Part Two.
From Grangemouth we decided to try to find somewhere more picturesque en route to Kilmarnock – and a 50-mile detour to Loch Lomond ensued.
But it seemed worth it – I donned the Tartan hat and ginger wig, St Andrew’s flag and a kilt before paddling in the loch to post the penultimate installment.
The funniest bit, however, came at the end of the clip when I briefly lost balance and was almost submerged.
The Loch Nash monster was almost born.
