Peterborough may have to lower their asking price for striker Aaron McLean – with club owner Darragh MacAnthony reportedly needing the money having being affected by the credit crunch.
Wolves manager Mick McCarthy will step up his attempts to sign Hearts defender Christophe Berra this week with a final £1.75m offer – but could face competition from Feyenoord for the Scotland defender’s signature.
New Blackburn manager Paul Ince is preparing a £1.5million move for Wolves defender Kevin Foley.
Wolves and Sheffield United are tracking Fulham midfielder Lee Cook.
ALBION
Bolton boss Gary Megson has reportedly rejected Albion’s opening offer of £1.25m plus Paul Robinson for defender Abdoulaye Meite.
Albion manager Tony Mowbray has turned his attention to Liverpool goalkeeper Scott Carson after missing out on Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson.
VILLA

The Saddlers could face competiton from promoted Championship side Doncaster for free agent Darren Byfield.

New Blackburn manager Paul Ince will make a £6million move for Blues striker James McFadden- if they lose winger David Bentley.
