A packed summer programme of activities for creative creatures from across the borough has been unveiled.

Youngsters aged between six and 11 can try their hand at making boomerangs, creating animal magnets and modelling hand puppets as part of Dudley Council’s Juniors at Museums (JAM) club.

From July 19 to August 31, children will be trawling Broadfield House Glass Museum for items they would take to the beach in the Seaside Search. The treasure trail is free of charge and will be going on from 12pm to 4pm each day.

Dudley Museum and Art Gallery is offering a range of craft classes costing £2.50. On July 22 and 23, youngsters will be making crazy characters come to life when they are let loose designing hand puppets.

On July 30 and 31, they will be able to take home their work after making an animal magnet. And on August 27 and 28, children will be decorating aboriginal style boomerangs and identity bracelets. The museum will also be offering a free treasure trail from July 21 to August 31, between 10am and 4pm each day.

The Red House Glass Cone will give children the chance to sculpt foam sun visors to protect them from the summer sunshine and butterfly mobiles to flutter in the breeze. The activity on July 28 and 30 will cost £3.25 per child. On August 4 and 5 youngsters can explore native American art, also for £3.25, while for the same sum on August 11 and 12 little visitors to the Cone will be making pirate and mermaid puppets.

A week later on August 18 and 19, an array of crafts will be on offer, again priced £3.25 for the day. And the Is It Glass? activity will be on at the Cone throughout the summer.
