Sky diving to raise charity funds
Tuesday 8th July 2008, 11:30AM BST.
A Staffordshire-based children’s charity is searching for brave volunteers to join its celebrity supporters for a fund-raising sky dive.
Caudwell Children, is holding “Celebrity Chute-Out” on Saturday September 13, a 10,000ft skydive event where a team of jumpers from the North will go head to head against a Southern team to see who can raise the most cash.
About 110 participants will battle it out at airfields in Lancaster and Oxford.
Leading the teams will be a host of stars from TV shows including Emmerdale, Shameless, Waterloo Road and Hollyoaks. Each star will lead several team members as they take to the skies
All money raised from sponsorship will go to the charity, which provides treatments, therapies and specialist equipment for sick and disabled children throughout the UK.
Trudi Beswick, chief executive officer for Caudwell Children said: “We need people who have what it takes to take on the challenge of a lifetime and do something completely new for a good cause.
“It is going to be one of the largest skydive events to take place and it will be incredibly rewarding and memorable for anyone who gets to take part.
“Their fundraising efforts will directly help change a child’s life and in return they will experience one of the most adrenaline-fuelled sports on earth. It’s also one hell of a team building exercise for companies in the area!”
To date Caudwell Children has donated over £5 million to more than 2000 sick children.
Each participant will jump in tandem with a professional skydiver based at the airfield.
