Scene of DJ’s killing is police mystery
Tuesday 8th July 2008, 11:36AM BST.
Detectives hunting the killers of Black Country DJ David Daly today revealed they still do not know where he was killed before being dismembered.
They believe it is possible that Mr Daly’s killers may have chopped up his remains on the weekend he went missing to make it easier to remove the body from a house.
Officers discovered his headless body on March 30 following a three-day search of a canal by Cannock Road. He had been missing for three months.
Today they launched a major new appeal for anyone who saw the 31-year-old on the weekend of his disappearance to get in touch.
He was last seen at 11am on December 8 when he left his home in Heath Town to buy provisions and was spotted at an address in Ashmore Lake.
Detectives believe he went to the Monmore Park area but that there were no further sightings of him.
DCI Richard Baker, the man leading the investigation, revealed that Mr Daly was a small time cannabis dealer who would sell the drug to his friends and associates.
Mr Baker said that officers were looking at a number of possible motives but declined to elaborate.
Three people, two men and a woman all from Wolverhampton, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are on police bail.
Mr Baker said he may have been killed on or around the weekend that he went missing because there were no further confirmed sightings of him.
He urged anyone who had seen areas with large amounts of blood or noticed strange smells around the time to contact officers.
Anyone with information should call the unit on 0845 113 5000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
