Jail for killer of young student
Tuesday 8th July 2008, 4:00PM BST.
A killer who stabbed a student to death in a Wolverhampton street was this afternoon jailed for at least 14 years.
Errol Price, pictured, aged 25, was given a life sentence for knifing Uriel Johnson once through the heart as he lay defenceless on the ground in Bilston.
The murderer’s cousin Ashley James, 23, who had helped hunt down the 21-year-old victim, was given 10 years for manslaughter.
At Wolverhampton Crown Court today, Judge John Warner said: “This is yet another tragic example of the enormous risk created and the fatal consequences caused by those who carry knives.
“The clock cannot be turned back. Things are changed forever.”
Mr Johnson, from Walsall, was stabbed in Wellington Road three days after a row in July at the Otter and Vixen pub in Bushbury.
Price pleaded guilty to murder, and Uriel James was convicted of man-slaughter after a five-day trial in May.
