Child is hurt in collision with car

county-air-ambulance-3.jpgA four-year-old boy was airlifted to hospital after being hit by a 4×4 vehicle in Lichfield.

The county air ambulance was called to Meadowbrook Road at around 6.15 last night when the boy suffered a serious head injury.

He was flown to Birmingham Children’s Hospital where his condition is described as “stable”.

West Midlands Ambulance Service also sent a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance to the scene.

Spokesman Chris Kowalik said: “The first crew began treating the boy at the scene and called the County Air Ambulance. The doctor who arrived by helicopter then gave the boy pain relief. 

“He was then immobilised with the use of a spinal board and neck collar and flown to Birmingham.”

Staffordshire Police said the red Isuzu car was driven by a Lichfield woman.

They are appealing for witnesses to call Pc Adrian Simms at Lichfield Police Station on 08453 302010.
