There was another argument with club staff on the pavement outside the Plymouth nightspot and Mr Smith was injured. Prosecutor David Gittins said Ebanks-Blake was seen on CCTV hitting the doorman with the handbag.

Ebanks-Blake, whose address was given as Renaissance Gardens, Plymouth admitted assault causing actual bodily harm and using threatening or abusive language and was fined £1350 with £650 costs and £500 compensation

The player was transfered from Plymouth to Wolves at the start of the year and club spokesman Matt Grayson said this afternoon: “This happened before he joined us and we therefore have no comment.”
