Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Still hope for Eastwood switch
Monday 30th June 2008, 11:34AM BST.
Wolves are still hopeful Freddy Eastwood’s £1m-plus move to Coventry isn’t dead – despite claims that the Sky Blues have pulled the plug.
The former Southend striker is currently refusing to accept a settlement on his Wolves contract, after agreeing a four-year deal which matches his Molineux wages.
The clubs had already agreed the fee which would eventually lead to Wolves recouping the full amount they paid Southend a year ago.
Now Coventry are saying the deal is dead, over Eastwood’s refusal to accept a compromise over the money owed.
The Ricoh Arena club are now in talks with former Birmingham striker Clinton Morrison, who is a free agent after his release from Crystal Palace, and Southampton’s Grzegorz Rasiak, a former Wolves target of Glenn Hoddle.
Eastwood was expected to report back today for the start of pre-season, training with the rest of the players at Compton.
Wolves believe the transfer-listed striker should accept the deal being offered by Coventry as he will be earning the same money and more if he plays, rather than continue to kick his heels at Molineux where he’s not part of McCarthy’s plans.

Freddy as much as a good player you are .. AND YOU ARE A GREAT PLAYER .. Mick will never use you in his plans at wolves .. SO YOU ARE BEST TO MOVE ON AT COVENTRY WERE YOU WILL PLAY WEEK IN WEEK OUT AND SCORE GOALS .. WHICH YOU WILL DO .. And come back to wolves in the future .. because us wolves fans love you and know you are a quality player .. YOU WILL COME BACK TO HAUNT US !! JUST WISH YOU COULD STAY !!
GOOD LUCK FREDDY !! FREDDY FREDDY FREDDY !!
UP THE WOLVES !!

What a greedy spanner. Should not expect a higher wage after the season he’s had, we don’t want him, Coventry do, reason enough to move if you ask me.
I’m sick of reading about him now – just kick him out of the door for gods sake.
Keep him and play him !! We would have a potent strike force next season !!
GREED!!
thought he wanted to go…
IF this is true… not impressed… all those freedy loves take note…
Report abuse
It’s either one thing or the other, let him go and with best wishes or let him stay and give him every oportunity to play no different to any other player.
It’s time to manage properly MM not mess about, get your act into gear.
Southbank Barmy Army – looks like you’re in the fading minority on this one. Freddy is messing it up for himself by refusing to accept less money – now how can you possibly pin that one on Mick? Most people will concede that MM didn’t handle the whole situation as well as he could have, but the problem lies with Fred himself – he needs to bite the bullet and move on, and simply knuckle down and try to restore his fading reputation.
8# READ IT PROPERLY..HE’S NOT ASKING FOR EXTRA, MOXEY WANTS HM TO ACCEPT LESS THAN HIS CONTRACT ALLOWS..AND THE WAY WOLVES HAVE TREATED HIM..WHY SHOULD HE TAKE LESS THAN HE’S OWED.
STICK TO YOUR GUNS FRED AND MAKE MAKE EM PAY UP.
Eastwood’s stance is regarding a pay-off from Wolves as he has not asked for a transfer and McCarthy has transfer listed him. This is in line with all players who are listed when they have not asked for a transfer, so if Wolves agree a figure then Eastwood will move!
Why is this Mick or the Wolves fault? Moxey for all his faults is getting the best deal for the club. If he don;t want the deal that is right for Wolves then I’d just put him in the reserves & let him stew – I am sick of the Eastwood show.
No 11 – don’t you mean make us pay – its our club
Report abuse
thought he wanted to leave to play football?now hes moaning because of money!im sick of reading about him now!even the coventry fans arnt that fussed about him
Report abuse
I didn’t believe it would be long before the “holier than thou” brigade were intimidating that Freddy Eastwood was avaricious !!
Nobody outside the two clubs and Freddy Eastwood is party to the precise details of the settlement of his Wolves contract I imagine, but there does seem to be a shabby disregard to contract law by the Molineux Board who I assume are acting out of a particularly petty and spiteful manner.
This whole shameful incident is a poor reflection on the behaviour of Messrs Morgan and Moxey if it is correct.
is southbank barmy army a baggie in disguised ??
If this goes on much longer I think we should have a whip round! Freddy please goes go!
IMO this tells you a lot about the bloke, If i was “desperate” to play football I wouldn’t be quite so picky.
Why do all the Freddy lovers blame McCarthy/Moxey. Get behind the team or support Coventry or wherever Eastwood parks up…(Sorry signs!)
I notice none of the other players pleaded him to stay. Theres more to this than meets the eye.
Jesus. We get him out of the door and he wants to come back through it. Accept the money and clear off for all our sakes.
like many i was a fan of eastwood, but the truth is the guy doesnt mix with the other lads, he also a disruptive person around the club, these are facts from someone i know in the club so as much as we all think he could be a great player for wolves, the way mick is trying to build a good young side with a good spirit, goodridence esatwood.
FREDDY DONT LET MICK AND MOXEY FOB YOU OFF !!
STICK TO YOU’RE GUNS FRED ..
FREDDY FREDDY FREDDY !!
come on Moxey…..get rid now before he has chance to poison the positive attitude coming out of Molinuex………he never proved himself when he had the chance to …..its about team working together not just putting it in the net, which he failed to do ……just get rid I`m fed up of reading about this greedy player……..COME ON YOU WOLVES

(17) SBA has read and understood the article correctly, unlike most, who apparently cannot read let alone understand.
The player is entitled to a full and proper settlement from WWFC.
He is not entitled to be shafted.
Big Wolf clear off for all our sakes.
We should just accecpt whatever we can for him and let him go. We can watch then Mick squirm has he scores lots of goals for them.
im sick of reading about him now
just boot the waste of space out of the door!!
Probably a greedy agent that gives Eastwood bad advice. Yes, Wolves listed him, but he wanted to go. The clause in the contract is a protection if he is forced to go to a club.
I don’t look forward to Eastwood being in the club next season. Hope it will sort out.
i hoped and thought freddie would be a legend at wolves.
i honestly beleive he has fallen out with mick and his treatment by mick was applaing last season.
he is a proven goalscorer and he will score goals wherever he goes provided he’s given the chance to actually play more than a few minutes every other game.
any way i do agree he should go for him and wolves sake. i would love him to stay and mick to go but its not gonna happen.
he signed a four year contract and if WE decide to sell him after1 year he then is entitled to a pay off from wolves. you can’t blame him after the way he’s been treated. i am not saying he’s right but i can understand where he’s coming from.
here’s to a great season ahead.
come on the wolves

Shouldn’t that read ‘Big WBA’??

Eastwood showing his true colours……unless its a planned mess up of an exit put together by our board???????
Respect to the flag carriers during Neil Diamond at Glastonbury…………Black and Gold for pre-match warm up??????????????
Its not clear here who is messing about – Eastwood or Moxey. I guess they will blame each other. I hope wolves aren’t being greedy cause best for everyone that Freddy moves on.
Respect to the flag wavers at Glastonbury!!!!

Deal may well be dead according to what the Coventry Evening Telegraph has to say. Worth a look, plus some of the postings there.
I can understand why Freddy is angry, the way McCarthy has treated him and now they want to force him to take less on a contract they agreed. This player has been treated appallingly.
Perhaps the club should remove him from their transfer list and let him ask for a move. If he wants to play football he will ask, and then no money will be due from WWFC to the player. IMHO if the guy wants to move and is being the same wages elsewhere then I do not feel sorry for him.
Southbank barmy army (2 & 11). I don’t think you have read it properly. Doesn’t the article say Coventry’s offer matches Freddy’s Molineux wages?
If so, Freddy wouldn’t be out of pocket if he moves on. The article seems to be implying that Freddy wants a settlement on his Wolves deal despite being able to earn just as much for just as long at Coventry. If so, Freddy is being outrageous.
Like you, I find this very difficult to believe. Somehow this article is not convincing.
The issue needs clarifying. We need to know exactly what it is that Eastwood is all stirred up about before we pass judgment.
showin his true colours now! I wonder if this will make some of yours heads pop from out of the guys backside! GET HIM OUT!
SUPER MICK!
I hope you will all be down the ricoh next season if this greedy flop ever moves, because you sure don’t support the wolves. This ‘myth’ that he was treated appaling, is farcical, if my boss asked me to work harder and I refused to, then I’d get the sack.
Put it into perspective, he is just one player, you should be supporting the team.
He is usless let him go. I wouldnt mind Stern John or Morrison on the other hand bring a bit of experince in up front.
COME ON LADS!
IF HE WAS AS DECENT AS WE ALL THOUGHT, WOULD WE REALLY BE SO KEEN TO GET RID???
LETS JUST GET RID OF HIM, FREDDY IS OBIOUSLY TRYIN TO GET AS MUCH AS HE CAN (TYPICAL CHAV)
WHEN WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE AT THE END OF THE SEASON I DOUBT WE WILL EVEN REMEMBER WHO ‘FREDDY FREDDY FREDDY’ IS!
WELL DONE JEZ AND CO GET WHAT YOU CAN/GET RID AND GET US UP

As a skyblue fan – I was looking forward to seeing Eastwood, but all this time it seems that he justs want his cake and eat it – if he wants to come accept whats on offer if not well go elswhere – on a different note lets hope for a strong midlands division this year all round
Report abuse
I’d prefer Clinton Morrison To this Wolves reject!
To be fair I understand why he wants to move on!!!!
6 Points in the bag for next year!
Play Up Sky Blues!
eastwood may not of started many matches but when he did come on as a sub he still didnt do the job. find a club willing to pay £1 mill for him an add add-ons to his contract to get the player out, cus we dont want another season of freddy chants affecting the players on the pitch,
Report abuse
He didn’t ask for the transfer so under the rules he is entitled to the money. Wolves can’t have it both ways. They want the transfer fee but don’t want to pay the compensation.
Pay the money and move on.
The BBC website suggests he is legally entitiled a fee from wolves. coventry have agreed to pay half but wolves wont pay the other. if he’s legally entitild to some payout i dont blame him for refusing to move.
lets be honest if he was any good clubs bigger than coventry would be after him!!!
What a joke this club has become. If he’s entitled pay what was agreed and get him going.
Seems like Kites has started something off here…
Report abuse
I agree just give him the money so we can get rid of this waste of space that just wont go away and leave this great club. Kick him out the god damn door ive had enough of reading about him!
