Roadworks threatening more delays

Saturday 28th June 2008, 9:52AM BST.

Motorists in Bloxwich are set for two more months of traffic misery with further delays on a major road from Monday.

Work on a £1 million gas pipe replacement programme on the A4124 Lichfield Road is making good progress and has seen the removal of temporary traffic lights.

But from Monday, manual stop and go traffic signals will be in operation at the junction of Millfield Avenue for the pipeline to be installed between the Walsall Academy and the canal bridge, from 9.30am to 4pm.

Drivers have endured two months of delays since the work to replace more than a mile-and-a-half of metal gas pipes began, but National Grid today said the development was on course to be completed by September. Millfield Avenue junction will be closed to traffic during the work.
