Baggies old boy on move

Saturday 28th June 2008, 10:03AM BST.

Former Albion midfielder James O’Connor has become Sheffield Wednesday boss Brian Laws’ first signing of the summer.

The 28-year-old left Burnley at the end of last season after four years at Turf Moor despite being offered a new contract by the Clarets.

O’Connor is set to complete the paperwork on a three-year deal next week and Laws is delighted to have lured the former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international to the club.

Laws said: “He is a proven player at Championship level and brings a wealth of experience to a key area of our team. James will bring an excellent work rate, great attitude, and numerous other qualities to our squad.”
