Alucast, which has been supported by the Birmingham Chamber-backed Accelerate, is expanding its range of customers and investing in equipment. It recently added a specialist machining facility to its portfolio of services after acquiring Dixi Precision Components.

And a string of new projects include complex vacuum pump components used in the semi-conductor business for plasma screens and solar panels.

Alucast has also won an order from Denso Marston to manufacture fully mach-ined parts for Ferrari. Tony Sartorius, managing director at the Wednesbury sand, gravity and pressure casting specialist, is optimistic about the future.

“When John Swift and I took over the company in 2003, we set down a clear strategy that focused on growth,” he said.

“This is exactly what we have done and, thanks to investment in people and facilities, we now supply many industrial sectors.

“The automotive, commercial vehicle and motorcycle industries still feature as important sectors and currently account for 25 per cent of our turnover.

“Thanks to the precision and quality of our work, we can lay claim to supplying components that are used by Aston Martin, Bentley, Jaguar, Bugatti and Lotus.”

“Within two weeks of taking over, we’ve virtually doubled turnover and this is just a taste of what is to come.”
