Wolves fans have backed the surprise swoop for Leicester central defender Richard Stearman on a four-year deal.

Supporters on the streets of Wolverhampton told online sports journalist Craig Birch they welcomed the addition to Mick McCarthy’s squad.

The 20-year-old 6ft 2ins Wolverhampton-born stopper, who was Leicester’s Player of the Year last season, has joined the club for an undisclosed fee having a year left on his contract.

Villa had also been one of several Premier League clubs interested in the highly-rated defender, but Wolves have stolen a march on their rivals to re-stock their depleted central defence.

Stearman, who moved away from the city at the age of five, becomes Wolves’ second arrival of the summer following Bournemouth striker Sam Vokes.

Now lets get Mark Beevers from Sheff Weds before the big boys move in. Similar age and type of player. Several prem teams have already been sniffing around.

I am not interested what some of these Leicester fans are saying. It’s a case of sour grapes. The facts were that Crystal Palace, Hull, Leicester and Wolves conceded the least amount of goals last season. He has represented England at a number of levels and ultimately is miles better than Neill ‘ 10 to 2 feet’ Collins!

We all endorse a great signing that Stearman is but we still need another quality centre back. If the Berra saga drags on into the preseason get Anthony Gardner of Spurs in. Still only 27, good on the ball, from Stafford and would get him for less than Berra – stumbling block would be the wages I guess.

Anthony Gardner is not that good, from what I have seen him for spuds he is a liablility. Too many mistakes and for 27 year old does fit our experianced players idea!

Heard anyway that Stoke want him for 2 million!

Great signing. Young, quality, has experience AND if we get Berra we’re looking at an amazing defense. Let’s get in some midfield steel, hopefully the Gravesen rumor is true.

This is a fantatic signing. It appears on the surface to be great news.

Where have all the negative moaning minies gone.

I also note that Moxey has yet again played a blinder. Will people notice his good qualities once again, or will they focus on the few cockups?

It does appear to be a very good signing but then so did Freddie last summer.

The key question is whether Thick Mick will play him?

Anthony Gardener is one of the worst professional footballers I have ever seen! Spurs have been trying to offload him for 8 years. Would be one of the worst signings I could think of!

i dont understand golden blood… surely its a good thing that we’re all positive for a change?

im sure mick will give us plenty of ammo in the coming months, but for now, and for a pleasant change, we all seem to be on the same side.

    COME ON YOU WOLVES !

    10) Moxey has made with the help of the managers, some bad decisions – Frankowski, Silas etc.
He has done some good pieces of business but he is spineless sometimes. He should have been more ruthless when giving up the South Bank to the Tescos, on police instructions!

Thats just it Admant. The negativitity that fans have towards the powers that be at this club are outrageous.

Most things are good at this club. Some fans just love to excentuate the negative. Me i am overjoyed with Moxey, i think he is absolulty superb for the job of CEO.

Mick I was overjoyed first season, second season I thought he consolidated our position without achieving anything. And third, well who knows.

All I know is that I will be giving Mick a chance. And I am sure we will be fine.

Mick is in a no win situation. If we do bad it is Micks Fault. If we do well it is becasue the players did well.

Mick has bought some great talent to this club, Kites, SEB, Jarvis, Foley, Stearmen, Henry and Keogh. In my eyes there are the 2 wards, Neil Collins and Freddy who have been poor. Not a bad ratio for any manager.

Things are looking good, I just wish some fans would just stop looking at the word through poo coloured glasses.

Great signing but still need another quality centrehalf. Don’t be fooled by the lack of goals we let in, it was not down to quality defending but defending in numbers and not supporting our forwards.
