Tub firm is hot stuff on TV
Thursday 26th June 2008, 11:37AM BST.
A Midlands couple who run a national company that hires out hot tubs could be forgiven for having stars in their eyes.
Emma Bray, aged 33, and husband Steve, aged 27, from Kidderminster have found their firm is in big demand.
The couple set up their company eight years ago with two tubs after being the first to spot a niche market. Since then they have loaned one to Demi Moore to help keep her warm between scenes in psychological thriller Half Light, which was filmed in Anglesey and Cornwall.
They have also loaned one to David Jason at Pinewood Studios during filming of the Colour of Magic for Sky One and to Ealing Studios for filming of a new television series.
Now the company, which has 42 hot tubs for hire, has been booked to provide one for the ITV’s Emmerdale soap opera.
Emma said: “We went up to the Emmerdale set. Everyone was really lovely – both the actors and production team.
“The Dingles are as mad off set as they are on the set. They are a lovely bunch.
“We had to stay with the tub while they were filming because of health and safety.
“They filmed three scenes with it. We do seem to have captured the market in hiring out tubs.
“We just thought the hire side was a niche market.
“We were the first to start and the product we hire is the most superior on the market.
“The tubs can be delivered and are then ready to use within about 20 minutes.”
A spokesman for the ITV Emmerdale series said: “In the storyline the Dingle’s see a company hiring out hot tubs and decide to have a party for themselves and friends.
“I can’t give more away but the hot tub is to be used in several scenes – the first of which will be screened on July 23.”
