Lindgren fit for Wolves clash
Thursday 26th June 2008, 8:00AM BST.
Sweden’s Fredrik Lindgren will return to the Wolves fold for their Elite League visit to Swindon tonight after missing the last three matches with rib injuries.
Without him, the side have slipped to a narrow defeat at home to Poole and exited the Knockout Cup at the hands of Eastbourne, despite a gallant 52-40 win over the Eagles in the second leg at Monmore on Monday.
Both Lindgren and Niels Kristian Iversen will look to hit form ahead of Saturday’s British Grand Prix at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium, with the Swede battling to regain 100 per cent fitness in time for British speedway’s showpiece event.
The club’s management have stated that team changes could be imminent when the new averages come into effect on July 1,
No more has been said, other than that a new face has been recommended to the club by former world champion Erik Gundersen.
Wolves’ previous trip to Wiltshire this term in April resulted in a 50-42 defeat, despite a superb paid 16 from reserve for Nicolai Klindt.
The Danish young gun will hope the mechanical problems he suffered in Monday’s win over Eastbourne do not a reappear.
Kenneth Hansen, fresh from his best Monmore performance of the season against Eastbourne, makes his Blunsdon track debut.
Ales Dryml was in flying form on Monday and will hope to improve his Blunsdon form, having failed to score on his previous visit.
Swindon are led into action by club legend Leigh Adams, who will hope to score his 100th maximum in Robins colours, while the home side are expected to use the rider replacement facility for injured Troy Batchelor.
Swindon: Leigh Adams, Sebastian Alden, Mads Korneliussen, Troy Batchelor R/R, Travis McGowan, Manuel Hauzinger, James Wright.
Wolves: Fredrik Lindgren, Ales Dryml, Niels Kristian Iversen, Nicolai Klindt, David Howe, Christian Hefenbrock, Kenneth Hansen.
