Saddlers boss calls for patience
Tuesday 24th June 2008, 10:00AM BST.
Walsall manager Jimmy Mullen has urged fans to be patient as the wait for new players continues at the Banks’s Stadium.
As it stands, the Saddlers have a severely depleted squad, after releasing 10 players at the end of the season, with Mullen last week stating that he had spoken to “around 20 players” in the view to them signing up for next season.
One player who was thought to be made an offer, Bournemouth defender Josh Gowling, opted to join Carlisle. The Saddlers had hoped to tie up some other deals by the start of this week.
Despite the wait, Mullen is keen to point out that the transfer window is still in its infancy and believes his patience will bear fruit.
He said: “It is time we started signing some players. But we have to make sure that the players we bring in are the right ones.
“Many players are on holiday at the moment or are mulling over offers from a number of clubs, including ourselves.
“I know the depth of squad I want to take in to the new season and rest assured this will be in place by the time we start the season.
“I am looking to build a squad of players that are our players. My main aim is to bring in players that are committed to playing for Walsall.”
“There is a rebuilding job to be done. Judge me on the players I bring in and the way my team performs.”

all this club has done this close season is talk to the papers on what they hope to happen, its about time they stopped talking everything up and finally do something about it.
Ince, Weston, Gerrard, Smith, Boertain, Bradley, Taundry, Ishmel, Nicholls, Craddock, Deeney is the starting line up at the moment. That list should be scary enough to sign atleast 10 players.
The players are back in training next week, lets hope there are new faces as the fans are becoming even more restless.

Walsall FC…the most mind-numbing club on the planet. Why do we bother?

Makes the purchase of a season ticket all the more painful. Bonser is the organ grinder of the monkey that is Mullen (peanuts anyone). Tell the fans what they want to hear. It would be interesting to find out at the end of August exactly who Walsall spoke to. Just bear in mind that any players we sign, their transfer fee will be undisclosed.

My mate was wearing a tee shirt with ‘Walsall 1888′ on the front in the pub last night.
I think the number was his guess at next season’s average home gate.

How many times can the E&S rewrite the same story? Just face facts: No one decent wants to sign for us and we’ll be left picking up the dregs. I wouldn’t be surprised if the E&S are not still running a variation on this story in two months time.

Well said, Sadsfan. Players need to train and get to know each other before the season starts. Definite decisions need to take place now rather than repeating meaningless phrases that we are all getting very bored and frustrated by.

Ok, I have been waiting quite a while now, starting to run out of patience….expecially as the only player we are being actively linked to is Asa Hall, great.
