Villa ticket still among cheapest
Friday 20th June 2008, 4:30PM BST.
Villa are still among the cheapest clubs to watch in the Premier League despite season ticket prices soaring this summer.
Their increase of 32.5 per cent in the cost of the cheapest season tickets is the biggest in the top flight for next season.
Yet the West Midlands’ flagship club still has the second cheapest ticket in the division, at £265 in the lower tier of the North Stand.
Wolves remains the most expensive place in the West Midlands to watch football, with Albion is also more pricey than Villa.
The results of an investigation published show season ticket prices in the Premier League have risen by an average of 7.8 per cent this summer – more than twice the rate of inflation.
Albion fair reasonably well in the survey with the cheapest season ticket now available at The Hawthorns, priced at £399, among the lowest eight in the top flight.
Albion’s prices represent a 14 per cent increase on Championship prices but the majority of Baggies season ticket holders renewed at ‘early bird rates’ which were 14 per cent down on last season.
Molineux remains the costliest venue in the region to buy an adult season ticket, with their cheapest prices of £432 still higher than their local rivals despite an increase of just 4.3 per cent.
Walsall’s price increase of 7.7 per cent for the cheapest season ticket is the fifth highest in League One but the price of £280 remains around average for the division.
Across the country, League Two Macclesfield are the biggest culprits of hiking prices with a 36.4 per cent increase from £220 to £300.
And Arsenal is still the costliest place in the country for season ticket holders, despite an increase of just 4.5 per cent.
The cheapest season ticket at the Emirates Stadium costs a whopping £925.
At the other end of the spectrum, Port Vale fans can get a season ticket for as little as £183 under a new loyalty scheme.

2 doghead you must have had too much sun recently !
Well I suppose it makes me feel a whole lot better to know Wolves are the dearest club to go and watch in the area. Premiership football at the Hawthorns and Villa, or pay more money to see division one football at Wolves ? That is what sets Albion fans and Wolves fans apart, but the Wolves fans have not woken up smelt the coffee. If you are a loyal supporter of Wolves, then nothing will sway you to think otherwise. But if you look at it from a third parties point of view, then it can’t be a nice taste in the mouth, or can it ? The league has never been so hard to get out of and what if Wolves don’t make the playoffs again ? There is going to be hell of alot of pressure on MM this season to produce the goods. Can you blame the booboys for wanting better football as they are paying more than anyone else ?
IT’S BOSTIN BEING A BAGGIE !!!!

2..YOU LOT ARE A JOKE
McCourt was plucked from Derry City and has been tipped to make a huge impact at Parkhead, but he could well have been gracing The Premier League had West Brom been quicker to the punch.
“I was all set to sign for West Brom,” the Irish winger told The Daily Record. “I was down there with them and then got the call from Celtic. From that moment on I was only going to one place.
I always wanted to play for BIG CLUB .lol

For once the E&S actually did have the facts correct, had to happen sometime. The Wolves site quotes your seat at £504. Just because you had the opportunity to buy at early bird prices doesn’t mean everyone can, or would want to come to think of it!

15 Michael.
Calm down. It’s jester story from the E&S to fill in the close season. Our special offers are jester jester from the board to the community. Jest because your club are milking you, don’t get all bitter and twisted, jest turn the other cheek. Oh and could you jest press the caps lock key. Jest kidding.

Is there any one in the Wolves hierarchy who is willing to explain how Wolves have managed to offer the most expensive season tickets. Yes, they can point out about their special offers but even that is too high a price to pay for football of a low quality.
M.M keeps ranting how there football is the best in the division, that does not say much for the quality in the division.
The old sayin of, “Fools and there money are soon parted.”

16. not my post jest someone using my name to post.
use your own name you sad lot.
there is only one jester and thats me.

16. by the way even you are not stupid enough to think that the £1 and £10 tickets were a “gesture” to the community.
even your own chairman said you couldn’t sell enough tickets.
think about it.

Can I just say: What a joke the posts are on here. My god I hope you lot are all under 12 years of age as you’ll be coming out with my dads harder than your dad next! Wolves are charging too much and Albion have to ask for less to attract a good season ticket turn over. End Of!
